Kathmandu,— Rebika Guragain, an economic journalist, has been elected as the president of the Society for Awareness Media and Journalism (Samaj). She was elected from the organization’s first general assembly held on Monday in Kathmandu. Prior to this, Guragain had been serving as the chairperson of the organization’s ad hoc committee.
Guragain was unanimously elected as president in Monday’s general assembly. Samaj is a social organization comprising economic journalists. It aims to work for enhancing social awareness and literacy through various media platforms.
The general assembly has also formed a five-member board. Sargam Tamang has been elected as vice-president, while Bal Krishna Poudel has been elected as general secretary. Sabina Subedi and Dambar Prasad Acharya have been selected as board members.
